Which is totally fine, except when those people are all alone in their homes, then that's got to add to a lot of added slowdown for the whole process, in both with obtaining the information or files you may need and the frequency of interruption from whoever you might need it from, you're not able to develop the same kind of natural cadence you might in person, where are you can communicate really effectively with just like, body language. It's probably just really hard to make any collaborative project of any kind where the scope and scale is beyond what everyone except maybe a couple people on the team -if that- are able to actually have an indepth understanding of every system, thats coming into play for every piece of the game between the engines capabilities, the art, the ui the writing&theme, the gameplay mechanics, 'feeling like it's a crusader kings game', programming, etc We're talking paradox games here, 99% of the art is static and a vanishingly small amount of gameplay in any paradox mapgame ever made would be unable to get by just fine without using placeholders during development. I really really hope the next expansion doesn't take anywhere near as long as this or Paradox has a big problem. In the time it's taken CK3 to have one expansion, CK2 was already on it's fifth.
